I snapped this photo of 1st Street in the summer of 2024. It was an epic sunset, and I love everything about how it has become part of a new project Angela and I are working on.
Our historic district is often referred to as Old Town Beaverton. The original footprint of Beaverton in 1893, is today the scene of a small business revival.
For years, the City has tried, through its sponsorship of a downtown association, to lead the charge in promoting our community. Those efforts are important and should not be discounted. At the same time, there is so much more going, it is impossible to encompass it all.
It is unfair to expect any one group of people or civic organization to solve the problems facing our district. For the greatest positive impact, it needs the engagement and participation of everyone: Every business, every organization, and every resident to build up each other.
Therefore, in partnership with other local businesses, Angela and I created this website and social media platform for Old Town Beaverton.
There’s a tremendous amount of work going on behind the scenes right now, all volunteer time and at our own expense, as we continue to build content and resources.
If you’re interested in learning more, or better yet, getting involved in this project, please get in touch! This is a community effort, and everyone is welcome — and needed — to make it a success!
Thank you,
David Anderson
