Old Town friends, welcome to a warm and sunny weekend! It’s forecast to be a hot one, so be sure to hydrate, enjoy shaded hangouts where you can, and remember, plenty of Old Town businesses offer chilly air conditioning so you can enjoy our district indoors or out!
We’re still working on supportive pages and resources to fully build out the website, but for here’s a quick synopsis of where things now stand:
After nearly two weeks, the website stands at 143 active listings, including every restaurant, retail and service business, local government and community resource that we could identify. Again, if you don’t see a particular business or organization listed, please let us know, or let them know they can list themselves for free on the website!
The purpose of OldTownBeaverton.com is to promote our entire district. We don’t play favorites, and we won’t exclude anyone for any reason. There has been a lot of talk in Old Town over the years about various organizations that have tried to promote different facets of the community, at the expense of not representing others.
This website and social media service evolved from more than six years of conversations between a core set of businesses, including The Vault Vintage Clothing, Ickabod’s Bar & Grill, Raindrop Taphouse, Jan’s Bookstore, and Syndicate Wine Bar. One of our members suggested that it’s like the business community has unionized! The European term for this sort of relationship would be a “syndicate”, believe it or not.
And that’s the name of one of our core business members: Syndicate Wine Bar, which drew its name from the concept of people coming together for a common cause, to achieve a benefiting result for all involved.
Every business in our community is important. We share many customers with one another, and it’s often to stop into one business or restaurant, and see the owner or staff members of another there as guests! It’s part of the wonderful, ongoing story of what makes Old Town Beaverton so special to us all.
We hope you, too see the value in our community, and invite you to participate. With the weekend before us, we invite you to get out, grab some free parking if you’re driving in from another part of town (try 3rd and Washington for 130+ free spaces!), and spend an evening with us soaking in a gorgeous sunset, delicious foods and refreshing drinks, and supporting our Old Town retail boutiques and shops!
Together, we can prosper, and we look forward to making friends with you, those you know, and people THEY know. Let’s bring it all home to Old Town Beaverton!
